Our goal is to have at least 3 scoring judges in each courtroom along with a presiding judge for each round. As such, we will need 32 judges for each of the scheduled rounds on Friday and Saturday. Fully staffing the judging panel is critical for the success of this event. I ask that you please assist in the recruiting of volunteer judges by soliciting lawyers and judges from around the state and forwarding to them the following link to sign up: http://www.kymocktrial.com/judge-registration/
We are trying to secure group rates at the following hotels:
Courtyard Marriott: 500 West 3rd St. Covington, KY 41011 (800) 321-2211
(1 mile from Courthouse)
Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter, 10 West RiverCenter Boulevard,
Covington, KY, 41011, (859) 261-2900 (1 block from Courthouse)
Embassy Suites Cincinnati RiverCenter: 10 E RiverCenter Blvd, Covington, KY 41011 (859) 261-8400 (1 block from Courthouse)
There will be an awards reception at the Marriott RiverCenter (1 block from the Courthouse) immediately following the 4th round on Saturday afternoon (approximately 4-6 p.m.) We encourage all the teams to walk over to the Marriott after the final round to enjoy this reception. The awards presentation will take place as soon as all the teams have finished and the final standings have been calculated. We anticipate a number of individual and team awards along with the announcement of the top two teams that will compete for the State Championship the following morning. Kentucky High School Mock Trial Association (KHSMTA) will provide any schools who are not from the Northern Kentucky Area a $700 stipend to offset cost of staying an extra night.
If you would like to speak to someone involved with the tournament, feel free to contact me via email or phone.
